 Overseas Travel

We are only able to give the vaccinations that are offered for free by the NHS - Polio, Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Cholera if required

We recommend you visit a travel vaccine clinic to get advice and a print out of the vaccines required for your travel destination. If any of the above are needed, please contact the Nurse Reception on 01794 528523 to book a routine appointment.

NB: The appointment availability is limited, so an appointment may not be available to coincide with your travel plans

Tobacco smoking is still the number one cause of preventable death and deprivation in the UK. In the UK 14.4% of adults smoke. Hampshire has reduced the smoking prevalence to 12.3%, however rates are much higher in areas of deprivation and in those with mental health needs. • Fewer appointments. Smokers visit their GP 35% more frequently than non-smokers, taking up additional appointment time.
• Decrease in hospital visits. Smokers often have longer stays in hospital due to complications, as well as slower recovery times.
• Increased recovery rates.
• Reduction in medication.
• Increase in client and community wellbeing.
• Reduction in poverty. 428,000 people could be lifted out of poverty if the cost of smoking addiction is gone.
• Reduce the problems associated with second-hand smoke (such as childhood asthma, glue ear etc). When a home goes smoke-free the whole family benefits.

Would you like to have a say about the services provided at Alma Road Surgery?  We would be very interested to hear your views through our Patient Participation Group. By providing your email details we can add them to a contact list, which will mean we can contact you occasionally for feedback.
